A curiosity here, a von Gloeden picture from the 1890s in both censored and uncensored form. Why only one of the models was covered up? (is it mere co-incidence that he is the most well-endowed, was his size deemed unseemly for an innocent picture?). The skill in creating a realistic loincloth with early photo-editing techniques is impressive - had we not got the unaltered version as proof of the creative tampering, possibly many would have been fooled. |
